WACO, TEXAS CANDLE
Waco was founded in 1849 on the banks of the Brazos River. Since then, the city has continued to steadily grow, albeit somewhat sporadically.
Most recently, the city has experienced explosive growth over the past decade. That has been, in part, a direct result of the fame and influence of Chip & Joanna Gaines since they launched their show, "Fixer Upper".
Since then, they have gone on to launch cooking shows, magazines, multiple product lines, and even their own TV empire with Magnolia Network.
When I was working on creating this Texas candle, I wanted to capture the essence of Waco in both the design, and the fragrance. So, whatever Waco means to you, hopefully this candle reminds you of that.
Waco Candle Profile
For a city that is known for incredibly unique coffee shops, multiple well known distilleries, a world-class wine vineyard, a famous family media empire, two massive Texas rivers that intersect near downtown, one of the largest municipal parks in Texas, a well-known university, some of the best BBQ in Texas, and much more... finding a scent combination for Waco was incredibly difficult.
Despite being relatively small, the city of Waco is recognized around the world. We wanted to create a Texas candle that stands out the way Waco does and I think we accomplished that goal.
Ultimately, for this Waco candle, we went with notes of mountain air, sheer eucalyptus, and fresh basil with a dash of tobacco leaf, climbing ivy, and white lavender on a woody bed of aged sequoia, red wood, and soft cashmere.

THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS CANDLE
I am fascinated by the story of The Yellow Rose of Texas and how the person who wrote the song wrote it about a woman for whom he'd lost.
And while there are several theories as to who the woman was - one thing is for sure. The Yellow Rose of Texas was a woman in Texas; she was likely involved in the Texas Revolution, and, either intentionally or otherwise, there's a good chance she was involved with the defeat of General Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto.
There's also a good chance (based on recently analyzed historical records) that the woman the song was written about was a woman who was not in control of her own destiny - likely a slave.
While we may never know the entirety of her story, one thing we do know is that The Yellow Rose of Texas was a real woman in a very defining moment in Texas history. This candle was designed to commemorate her story and hopefully inspire each of us to love the way that she was loved.

MAGNOLIA CANDLE
This tree grows best under full sun exposure, which might explain why the Magnolia Tree does so well in Texas. If there is one thing we have a lot of - it's definitely sun!
And while this tree is not exclusive to Texas, it has certainly seen a resurgence of interest and fascination from the general public as a direct result of the publicity it has received from the family behind the Silos at Magnolia; Chip & Joanna Gaines.
In fact, if you have had the opportunity to visit Waco, then chances are you have seen the Magnolia Tree in person. It's most certainly a uniquely beautiful tree with flowers that simply cannot be mistaken for anything but a Magnolia.

VAQUEROS CANDLE
Hundreds of years before becoming a part of the Texas ranching culture, the first "cowboys" were known as "vaqueros." The vaqueros were so renowned for their skills that the Texas rancher Richard King (Founder of the famous King Ranch in Texas) traveled south to Mexico in 1854 with the sole intent of recruiting as many vaqueros as possible to manage his herds.
The term "vaquero" would gradually fade as a series of other terms became more prevalent. Eventually, in the United States, the term "cowboy" became the favored (and final) title of the highly skilled profession of the vaquero.
Regardless of the title change, the legend of the vaqueros has been carried on over the course of time.
This Texas candle honors the timeless culture of ranch hands throughout history who have made the name "cowboy" synonymous with "Texas" around the world.

BULLDOGGING CANDLE
Nothing says "Texas" more than wrestling a steer to the ground by holding its horns and twisting it to the ground in a practice known as "bulldogging".
It's a timeless tradition in Texas that continues on at rodeos across the great state to this very day.
If you have ever attended a rodeo in Texas, then you have watched a bulldogging competition. It's not for the faint of heart and requires a significant amount of skill.

Why I Created a Texas Candle Line
I live in Texas, and I enjoy candles. So naturally, I started looking for a Texas candle for each of the various places in Texas that I've enjoyed, created memories of, and look forward to going back to.
And I did.
I've found lots of Texas candles.
Some of those Texas candles were made in Texas (re: Texas candle company), others were made by generic candle companies out of state, and some are even made overseas.
But I wanted something a little more authentic - Yes, a Texas-scented candle, but even more than that.
I wanted a Texas candle that was both made IN Texas, and also a candle that had a very strong Texas-themed design to it. And since I was having a difficult time finding that combination, I decided that it was time to create my own.
So that's what I did.
