WHAT IS EXPERTTEXAN?
Welcome to ExpertTexan.com, your go-to destination for insightful content about Texas culture, cuisine, travel destinations, business start-ups, and more. Let me introduce myself as your resident Texan storyteller, who will help guide you through the Lone Star State.
Whether you’re just visiting, are a newcomer to the state, or have been here for a while, ExpertTexan is (hopefully) a valuable resource for everyone.
I was born and raised amidst the concrete jungle of massive cities, but have found solace and inspiration in Texas’s wide open spaces and vibrant culture. I have a passion for exploring new places and sharing stories, and I work in earnest to bring an even-keeled perspective balanced by my experiences both as a Texan and as a traveler with an appreciation for diverse cultures and experiences.
Admittedly, I have insatiable wanderlust; I have traversed the length and breadth of the United States, visiting 48 out of 50 states to date, and have visited more than 25 countries. I have hosted international cruises, lived overseas for five years, and continue to travel whenever I get the chance.
Currently, I live on a rural, 5-acre plot in a self-built tiny house out in the country. I am well-familiar with the resourcefulness and independence that characterizes many Texans, including many of my neighbors who have never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
I am no stranger to the entrepreneurial spirit that thrives within the Lone Star State. I have worked with multiple start-ups in the tech and real estate industries, and have met many creative individuals building their own businesses along the way. It's inspiring, to say the least.
When I’m not typing away at my keyboard, you’ll likely find me nestled in a local coffee shop, savoring the aroma of freshly brewed beans and soaking up the unique atmosphere only Texas can offer. I firmly believe that the heart of any community lies in its local establishments, which often serve as the pulsating hubs of creativity and connection.
These, among others, are the experiences, relationships and encounters that I frequently feature in my articles. I love to write about small businesses, creatives, local entrepreneurs, and many other Texas-related topics.
I am honored that you're even here reading this, and truly appreciate your presence. Hopefully you've found the things that I write about informative, educational and perhaps even entertaining. My name is Chris Fluegge, and I enjoy all things small business, travel, and Texas!

I love to travel:
I lived in Europe for 5 years
I have visited 48 of 50 states
I have visited 25+ foreign countries
I have lived in 5 states
I’ve lived in Texas longer than any other state
I grew up as a city kid but now live on 5 acres in the country.
I live in a “tiny house” that we built.
I’ve worked with multiple start-ups over the years (largely in tech and real estate), most of which are now highly successful, $100+ million-dollar businesses.
